Potentially thousands of instances of MATLAB can be run simultaneously, each checking out a license from a central license server. An alternative is to compile MATLAB code into a standalone application. When such an application is run, it does not need to contact the server for a license. This allows researchers to run their calculations on compatible hardware, not necessarily at the University of Calgary, such as on Compute Canada clusters.</p> |
