This describes the new standard operating procedure that RCS is requiring members of the Centre for Health Genomics and Informatics (named DNA-seq lab, below) to follow when sharing data to those who need it. Previously, RCS staff would manually initiate the transfer, but should ultimately be made the responsibility of the research group due to its frequent nature.

The first step is to select the '''File Manager''' in the left panel. Then place the cursor in the '''Collection''' text field to search for an existing collection.

Search for '''arc-dtn''' collection and in the results list click on collection details icon (the 3-dot icon)

Click on the Collections tab (1) and then add a guest collection by clicking on the '''Add Guest Collection''' button on the right side (2).

Fill all the fields in the corresponding window making sure that the base path is the root of the directory that contains all outputs from the DNA sequencing lab and click on '''Create Collection'''. Note that this only needs to be done once. No data is shared until permissions are granted in the next step.

Now that the collection has been created in the '''arc-dtn''' endpoint we can grant appropriate users permissions to access the subdirectory containing those results. To do this select the newly created collection and click on the permissions tab (1) and then click on the '''Add Permissions - Share With''' (2)

Enter the path to the subfolder to share, the user(s) with whom this folder is going to be shared with and the permissions for this user. After selecting the user(s), you can enable the “Send notification” checkbox (1) to send a notification to everyone the folder is shared with. The message field (2) can be used to inform users that they are welcome to transfer files from this subdirectory.
 
Permissions should be set to '''read''' (default). After clicking on the '''Add Permission''' button this subdirectory has been shared.

The researchers granted access to the data in the last step initiate a transfer in Globus to move the data to the location of their choice (could be ARC, or some other location where OneDrive is mounted).

The DNA sequencing lab can remove access to this directory in the future after the data has been successfully transferred by removing the existing permissions. It is up to the lab personnel to decide when to do this.
